Our ‘A’ candidates are pretty different.
Apocalypse Now Redux is a 3 hour monster about the Vietnam War. Amélie is an odd French movie.
Both are really good. We’ve come to the conclusion that directors should keep their director’s cuts to themselves. 3 hours was far too long for Apocalypse Now, the shortened version was probably enough. Having said that, it was a really, really good movie. It’s a who’s who of famous (or not-yet-at-the-time famous) actors.
Amélie came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. Genuinely funny in places.
Next up, ‘B’ is for Braveheart and Boogie Nights
