There’s a post doing the rounds by Tim O’Reilly about putting Obama’s change.gov under change control (ie, SVN, CVS, Git etc).
This would be a fascinating idea… you would be able to see the changes lawmakers make to Government documents. These could conceivably be tracked back to corporate lobbyists and ignorant members of parliament (the two usually go hand in hand).
I’m wracking my brain trying to figure out who would be most likely to do this. Neither National nor Labour fill me with much confidence and with Nandor Tanczos gone, I can’t think of anyone willing to shake things up this much.
However, with the Police Act going out as a wiki for public submission, there is a slight chance that this might actually happen one day.
