Essentially you want to use CSS in place of images as much as possible, especially for logos containing text and background images. Where you might have used background images for shadows and rounded corners, CSS can ensure that it remains nice and crisp at high resolution.

Where browsers and CSS support falls short, you can use JavaScript to fill in the gaps.
